Below you will find information which will be helpful whilst staying at Vale Oasis - Musket Cove Resort - FIJI We recommend you read this through and get in touch if you have any questions about anything. Getting to Vale Oasis - Musket Cove Resort - FIJI Upon arriving into Nadi International airport getting to Oasis Pool Villa is very straight forward. Once you have departed customs you need to make your way to Port Denerau. You can either catch the courtesy shuttle (information on Malolo Cat website) or if you wish to stop and do some shopping along the way, hop in a taxi. The cost of a taxi from Nadi to Port Denerau is around FJD$50 and will take about 25mins if you go direct to Port Denerau without stopping along the way. Once you arrive at Port Denerau make your way to the Malolo Cat office. Here you will check in and board the Malolo Cat to Malolol Lailai Island and Musket Cove Resort where the villa is located. If you have a bit of time up your sleeve before boarding sit back, relax and enjoy a cold drink and maybe some shopping, there’s a good supermarket here too. Malolo Cat This is the best form of water transport to/from the island where the villa is located. In order to book your tickets have a look at the Malolo Cat website here you will find boat transfer times/prices etc. The website is http://www.malolocat.co. Please note: the last boat transfer to the island from Port Denerau is 5.30pm. I would recommend that you book your transfers on the cat no later than a week before your stay. Once you’ve booked your transfers please advise myself or the staff at Musket Cove Resort so they know when to expect you so they can make sure they’re ready for your arrival. Food: There is a supermarket at the resort which is well stocked with most things including meat and vegetables and we find this more than sufficient whilst we are on the island. There are also places you can go to dine (see below) However, should you wish you can buy supplies before arriving at the resort. There are supermarkets in Nadi and also a nice supermarket at the Denerau marina (before boarding the boat). On the way from Nadi airport to Port Denerau you will pass fruit and vegetable markets, supermarkets and also a good butcher “South Pacific Butchery”. If you ask your taxi driver he will know where to go and will be more than happy to wait while you enjoy some shopping. Vale Oasis - Musket Cove Resort - FIJI The villa should be clean on arrival, all beds made up with clean linen including beach towels etc ready for your stay. House Keeping: Please note: we do not provide daily cleaning as part of the daily rate. If you wish to have housekeeping visit the house daily or every 2nd day then there is an additional charge for this which is not included in the daily rate. If you wish to use this service let me know and I will advise you the cost and arrange for housekeeping to come. The villa is easy to keep clean, you should find a broom, vacuum cleaner, brush and shovel hiding in either the laundry or master bedroom cupboard or under the kitchen sink. These do disappear from time to time. If there is a problem let reception know and housekeeping can pop up to the villa. If you require cleaning products the supermarket (next to reception) is well stocked. You can also purchase washing powder from here to do washing if required as we are lucky to have a washing machine and dryer at the villa for your use. Upon arrival, you will need to turn the power on at the wall for the TV and also on the office desk to connect to the speaker (if you like to play music). Please note the speaker is a portable Bluetooth speaker so you will need to turn this on and connect it to your phone. Water: The villa mostly runs on tank water. We ask that you conserve water as much as possible (particularly between March- October as the island generally receives very little rain (if any) during this time. In the kitchen on the left side of the sink is a small tap which is just for drinking water. This is plumbed directly from one of the water tanks behind the villa so fresh water is always available for drinking. The water is pretty clean however, we recommend boiling it and allowing it to cool before drinking to be safe. You can also purchase plenty of bottled water on the island if you prefer. The toilets are run from bore water so the water may look dirty from time to time for this reason. WIFI If you want to use WIFI at the villa I recommend buying a Vodafone SIM card or USB stick from the Vodafone shop at Nadi airport which is located on the left as soon as you exit customs (nice and easy). You can log on from anywhere via your mobile connection and it’s fast and reliable. WIFI is also available at the resort restaurant and pool areas (and also the island bar). Go to reception/front office or trader café and purchase a data sim card. At the villa you will find a white modem connect to this using the information on the modem. If the wifi isn’t working you will need to purchase a data sim card and replace the one that’s in the modem with this. You should be able to get good Wifi at the Villa and also be able to watch the tv. Garden/Swimming Pool The lawns/gardens should be tidy and the swimming pool clean and full. In order to achieve this a gardener and pool man will pop up to the villa from time to time. The villa is a popular place so is rarely empty so maintenance men will likely need to pop up sometime during your stay. They will only be there for a short time. If the timing is inappropriate then let them know and they will be happy to come at a time that suits you. I appreciate your support with this so we can keep the villa maintained for you and other guests Please notify me either during your stay or on your return if the villa is not up to standard so I can address it straight away. TV The TV is a smart TV and once connected to WIFI you will be able to sign in. to Netflix amongst other things. Locked areas: Locked areas are for home owners personal gear - Please respect. Air Conditioning: The house has ceiling fans in all rooms which are good to run during the day to keep the house at a nice temperature. For hotter times of the year bedrooms are fitted with air conditioning units for night time use only. It is important to close all shutters and doors in the bedroom and then set the air conditioner between 23C-26C. Because the house is open plan, the air conditioners will not cycle on and off and will simply stay on. 23-26C will provide a layer of cool air over the bed however, please remember to turn the unit off in the morning so that it doesn’t run all day. Power is very expensive on the island. Please also make sure you turn these off before you leave. Washing Machine/dryer: The washing machine/dryer is available for your use. Washing powder can be purchased from the supermarket. You will need to switch the power on at the wall before using and turn it off again when you have finished. Linen: Upon arriving at the villa it should be made up ready for your arrival. If extra linen is required it can be found in the cupboard next to the washing machine or if housekeeping haven’t left enough which does sometimes happen please let the staff at the front desk know so they can arrange for more linen to be delivered . There are also extra blankets for the beds in the spare cupboard in the master bedroom should it get cold. Please return the beach towels to the villa each day if you are taking them away from the villa so they don’t get caught up with the resort linen and get lost. C leaning supplies: As mentioned above, you will find a broom in the cupboard in the master bedroom along with a vacuum cleaner. There is also a brush and shovel located under the kitchen bench. Front doors lock behind you: Please note : the front doors will lock behind you if you have not manually switched the lock to open. Please be careful not to lock yourself out. Lock doors when going out: While it is safe on the island, it is recommended that you lock the doors when leaving the house. Lockable cupboard: You will find a lockable cupboard under the kitchen bench by the front door. There will also be a key for this on your key ring. It is recommended that you leave valuables, passports, cash etc locked in this cupboard. Hot water: The villa is now on solar power so you should have no problem with the water being hot sometimes if the weather has been cloudy it may affect the heat of the water but mostly should be fine. Any problems let me know so I can get the problem resolved asap Stove/cooking: The gas stove top works well and requires a large gas bottle to keep it going. If for any reason this is not lighting then it’s possible the gas bottle may need replacing. You will need to contact me or let reception know so they can arrange for maintenance to deliver more gas to the villa. The oven and one of the elements are electrical so you should always be able to cook something if the gas is out. BBQ There is a BBQ for your use located on the deck outside the kitchen. You will need to remove the cover before use and turn the gas bottle on. If for some reason the gas bottle is empty you will need to either replace it with a new one at the trader supermarket or contact me or let reception know so they can arrange for someone to replace it for you. The BBQ should be clean for your arrival. Up lights: Located on the wall between the laundry and the linen cupboard is a switch for the up lights. These LED lights wash a nice light over the ceiling. Being LED’s they can be left on all day and use little power. Please switch them off when you leave. Rubbish: There are two large rubbish bin/s placed at the end of the concrete driveway behind the little rock wall. The resort supports recycling so please be sure to put your rubbish in the correct bin/s for collection by the resort which will be done on a regular basis. Fire extinguisher: In the unlikely event this is required, there is a fire extinguisher located on the wall inside the villa to the left of the front doors close to the kitchen. There is also a fire blanket in the top left drawer beside the stove in the kitchen. Swimming pool: Is maintained regularly by Musket Cove pool staff. They will pop up to the house has a swimming pool directly off the deck. As with all pools on the resort and in Fiji fencing is not required. Please note if you have small children be aware that you will need to monitor them at all times. The pool is a medium sized pool adequate for the villa and big enough for a few people to swim in. P lease note, it's not a deep pool so diving is not recommended also jumping in the pool will lower the pool level very quickly. Please enjoy the pool and respect it. If any problems occur then please let me know asap so I can contact the pool man or maintenance to resolve the problem. Maintenance problems etc The villa is a holiday home on a remote tropical island, we maintain it to the best of our ability at all times. However, occasionally things will breakdown etc . If there are any problems during your stay please do not try to fix them yourself we have great maintenance support so please contact me in the first instance via phone +64 21 761 633 or my email info@filipamundell.com . I will then get the issue resolved immediately. If it relates to linen or housekeeping of any kind please let the front desk know and they will organise for housekeeping to pop up to the villa and they will supply what you need. We ask that you respect the villa and leave everything as you find it. If you break something let us know so we can replace it in time for the next guest. We like to keep the villa to the highest standard and that's not easy to do on a remote island in the middle of the Pacific. Housekeeping will do a stock take at the end of your trip so if anything is removed from the property which belongs to the villa then the resort has the right to charge guests for replacement costs. When you leave Power is very expensive on the island so please make sure you turn off at the wall. Air conditioners TV Washing machine/dryer Turn BBQ gas bottle off, make sure BBQ is clean and replace the cover Close all the shutters/windows/doors. Upon checkout return your keys to the front desk Musket Cove Resort We are very lucky to be located so close to the Musket Cove Resort, without the resort the villa probably wouldn’t exist. It’s important to respect the rules of the resort so that we can continue to make use of the resort facilities Please take note of the following: Dick’s Place Pool The resort is busier with higher rates and higher guest expectations. In busy times, the resort guests will receive priority over private home owner guests when it comes to using the pool and dining. You are welcome to use the pool but Musket Resort guests have priority over poolside sun lounges and cabanas. If there is a shortage it’s possible that private home occupants will be asked to vacate lounges for Musket guests. No more than 6 persons allowed in the cabana’s at a time. Children must be supervised at all times. Golf Carts/Buggies These are owned by private home owners and unfortunately are unavailable for guests to use due to the risks involved. Activities There are plenty of activities to do while you’re on the island including bike hire, water sports, fishing, day excursions or surfing to name a few Visit https://www.musketcovefiji.com/activities for up to date information about these including pricing. Island Dining If you decide to venture away from the villa then there are some great options for dining on the island. The resort has recruited some great chef’s and are carrying out regular training to improve service. Dicks Place Located by the main pool in a lovely setting overlooking the bay has a great selection of food and lots of variety. Please pop in there and have a look at what they have on offer. The busiest time for resort guests to dine is between 7pm to 8pm this is when they get slammed. So if eating dinner at the restaurant it is advisable to come outside of these time if possible . and if you are a group of 6 or more reservations are mandatory. It’s well worth a try they have new menus and the food is fantastic and the pricing is fair and reasonable. Guests for private homes can dine in the restaurant and pay upon consumption. Otherwise, if they choose to buy the meal plan, it is FJD$180.00 per adult for the 3 meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and it has to be for their whole stay. Island Bar Highly recommend you go here it’s a melting pot of all types a people and a great way to mingle with other guests of the resort, home owners living on the resort as well as all the yachties who regularly visit here from all around the world. Always a fun night to be had. The island Bar still remains to be the cheapest place to buy beverages in the Islands!! There are gas BBQ’s available for use here as well. Please note: If your bringing your own BBQ to the island bar. The resort are happy to supply all plates, cutlery & condiments which is fantastic. There is a $10 per person charge which also includes the use of a BBQ. We would recommend this as it saves a lot of hassle and you don’t have to worry about doing the dishes either!!! If you bring your own equipment all you pay for is the BBQ. Don’t forget to return any plates etc to the villa after use. Island Bar have a no BYO allowed policy. Please respect this Trader Café Have a great menu, make awesome coffee’s, milk shakes as well as pizzas which you can have there, takeaway or organize to be delivered to the island bar – fantastic!!! They also sell alcohol from here too.
